@TheMrpalid This is btw my favourite choke. The best thing here is to combine the blood choke with a bit of a neck crank. He probably didn’t do so… Probably. But, that’s just my opinion.

@MrPinkFlammingo The reality is that most blood chokes do cut off some air and/or crank the neck. Head-and-arm chokes/arm triangle variations like the Darce tend to tweak the neck a little too. The main aim for the Mata Leao is to cutoff the blood flow though. Marcelo Garcia is now doing a short/Severn RNC where the forearm goes into the trachea. Fedor will do this too. But if you figure-4 your arms and squeeze your elbows together, you are primarily aiming for the blood.

@jayparrish1 I’ve been Darce’ing people for a long time. It’s my best sub. That’s not possible. First they’d have no leverage and it only takes 5-6 seconds TOPS before they’re asleep. Also, there is no air cut off with the Darce. The Darce, RNC, Triangle, etc, are all blood chokes, not air chokes. They cut off the carotid arteries. The Darce has nothing to do with blocking anyone’s air.

@jamieatiko fer reall….miller only lost to GSP by decision….thats pretty damn good.. Hes a great submission expert and anyone who would think otherwise needs to shut there mouth and find a new sport to participate in, cause you obviously full of shit.

@laser1ish yeah good point, but I do see some holes in the darce technique… I mean if they had long enough arms they could pull your choking arm down and cut off your air as well… so depending on how long you’ve had it locked in and how long they can stay in it, they could possibly choke you out before you submit you… you’d have to have some serious endurance though to stay in the submission for a long time…

@jayparrish1 yea thats true, but im talkin about gettin the darce from the opening your openent creates from shrimping or turning for a single, you could also get the arm in guillotine. i like hitting subs of scrambles.

@laser1ish From that position you could also pull them into some knee’s to the head at the consequence of them possibly getting the full guard defense, but hey… thats still a dominant position, so its practically a win/win situation if you can get them in this lock. Unless you suck at grappling and they manage to get an armbar or something…

i love this choke, right when they shrimp to recover guard and BAM you slap this on. or you could hit the armlock when they do that, haha

@brandyquiocho There sure is man. Every no-gi coke: RNC, Guillotine, Darce/Brabo, Arm triangle, Reverse arm triangle, North/South choke, Anaconda, Peruvian necktie, etc. They all have their unique sqeeizing pressures. My Darce/Brabo is awesome by my Anaconda needs a lot of work.

“I’m like Cool, go ahead buddy, because I’ve got something for your ass”. Go Mayhem (and Jason Ellis!). Mayhem Mondays are the best.

mayhem is one of my fav fighters. Love his personality. Also, blame the diaz brothers for what happened at SF. Theres nothing wrong with going in and asking for a rematch. A bigger man, or camp as it were, would have just laughed.

there’s a difference on how you squeeze the arm triangle and the darce.

I was actually just browsing some videos to find a new choke to pull of…fucking bully beatdown making me already have been a jiujitsu practitioner and fight fan before it was even a concept. I hate it when these things happen.

  22. Arcturistheballer
    August 9th, 2010 @ 9:11 pm

    August 9th, 2010 @ 9:26 pm

it seems to me like an arm triangle but from a different angle basically.
